“You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.”

This stunning red haired beauty is Dawn. She is a math teacher to 4th and 5th graders and she is the mother to two children, a 15 year old son and a 10 year old daughter. They also have a crazy black kitty named Charlotte and 5 month old puppy named Harley (Aweee!) Dawn loves to spend time watching her kids play sports and she also loves scrapbooking in her spare time. Her favorite thing to do to relax is to spend the day at the beach and crack open a romance novel or mystery.

Dawn also participated in our 30 women over 30 portrait series. Although she had never considered something like this before, she saw some other sessions posted and the idea intrigued her. When asked about her insecurities she explained that when she was younger she hated her hair but now she has grown up and has learned to love all parts of herself. She decided to get her portraits done as a gift to her boyfriend of 3 years who she has known since kindergarten!

In a message that rings true for all women, Dawn said her favorite quote is: “You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.”

This hard working farmer and brewery owner traded in her work boots for a day of pampering and self-love.

This beautiful woman is Heather. Heather participated in our 30 women over 30 portrait series. She is a married and with her husband she has one daughter, 3 horses, 2 dogs, 3 barn cats anywhere from 3-25 pigs and roughly 12-300 chickens (Holy Cow!). Heather’s primary job is running her farm but she also helps to run 3 small businesses.

When she can find some spare time in her schedule she just loves to have fun. In the winter the farm slows down she enjoys getting out for a hike or checking out a brewery. She also loves her role as a snowboard instructor at the local ski hill! To relax she will go horseback riding, do Yoga or work on a DIY project.

Heather says that she always feels that she’s not enough as a mom, as a business owner, as a community member, as a friend and as a wife. This insecurity is one that strikes true with so many other women. She is working on these insecurities on a daily basis and says: ‘As for being "not enough" still trying to figure that one out. Every time someone thanks me, or tells me they couldn’t have done it with out me, how great my daughter is, how beautiful the farm is, how amazing my animals taste... they all chip away at that.”

Heather works hard to teach her daughter positive things about self image. She says: ‘I try to teach my daughter that it’s not fat or skinny, it’s healthy or unhealthy, fit, strong, those are what we want to be, not always worried about the scale. Once you start idolizing successful and intelligent people that are not movie stars, you start to realize what you look like matters way less.’

Similar to so many mothers out there, Heather admits that since becoming a mom she has put herself on the back burner. Her daughter is 8 and she says she hasn’t even been to a hair salon, so a little ‘me time’ to feel empowered is just what she needed so she decided that a portrait session was the perfect gift for herself!

Car saleswoman by day, wine and burrito-lover at night, horseback rider all around!

Amanda is a hard working sales woman who lives with her boyfriend, two dogs and a cat. Her session was part of our 30 women over 30 portrait series. When she is not working she loves to go horseback riding or enjoy some time reading her favorite book, Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. When she has a free evening, Amanda will indulge in some wine paired with her favorite food, her boyfriends delicious burritos!

Amanda says about her insecurities that she is working on accepting herself the way she is. ‘Its about what makes you feel good and beautiful, not other people.’

What started as a gift for her husband became a celebration of her own body’s superpower.

Meet Amanda! This strong and beautiful mom had originally booked her session as an anniversary gift to her husband, but before the session date she found out she was pregnant and ultimately the shoot became an opportunity for her to be able to celebrate all that her body can do as well as the changes that it was going through. Amanda is the mother to (now) two little boys and three angel babies. She is a full time stay at home mom and she absolutely loves that she has the opportunity to spend the time with them and see new experiences through their eyes. There is nothing more fulfilling than being able to be with your little ones as they grow up in front of you!

Amanda loves to read, knit and crochet and also enjoys spending quality time with friends and family. When she can find some time to relax she will put her feet up with a cup of tea and watch a movie or binge on an episode of The Office or The Good Place. Her favorite book is Me Before You by Jojo Moyes (total tear jerker!) and if she could have any meal she would go for Tacos.

When asked about role models in her life, Amanda said she has always looked up to her Mom because she always makes the best of every situation and exudes confidence, something I think many women aspire to do. Though confident in herself she also explained some of her insecurities that she has dealt with saying: “I think that it's normal to have some sort of insecurity. I used to not like my body but as you grow up you learn to be yourself.” It is very empowering to grow to appreciate and love our bodies as we get older and those insecurities we have will always continue to humble us. I asked Amanda if she could tell the thirteen year old version of herself one thing about self image what would she say and she responded: “Every BODY is different. Every BODY is beautiful. If you are happy with yourself, you will spread happiness to others and that is absolutely incredible.” I couldn’t have said it better myself!

Hair and makeup for Amanda was done by our fabulous Christen Gundersen of Makeup by CG.

Amanda’s Testimonial:

“Sasha and her team were spectacular to work with. I absolutely loved my time away from being a stay at home mom, being pampered and surrounded by such encouraging and positive women. I felt so good about myself and my body when I left that day and Sasha's positive words have stuck with me. Reminding me that we can celebrate ourselves, exactly the way we are, no matter what the 'obstacle'. I'm so happy to be able to get in front of the camera instead of constantly being behind the scenes while documenting my son's life and feel confident while doing so. Sasha's has an incredible ability to capture moments of joy and happiness and I cannot wait to see all of the photos at our next appointment. Thank you so much Sasha and team!”

Disney's Elsa Inspired Boudoir Session {2018}

Elsa was a tough shoot to plan.  It was our most last-minute shoot that we planned (within 3 days) - we wanted to have snow on the ground for this one.  Though Elsa primarily wears blue, we decided to pull more of a white color theme to really bring in the snow theme.  We adorned her in 'crystal' like necklaces and gave her a similar makeover to Elsa's actual character.  We loved this transformation, and equally loved that sparkly draped skirt we used to complete the outfit.  This set was purchased from Walmart (again - doesn't have to break the bank!)
